It's tough being a fussy gamer! 😅🎮

Hi!

I’m so jealous of gamer girls.

Not just because so many of them are just plain adorable.

But because they seem to get so much joy out of gaming - and I’d love some of that too!

Especially since games felt like a piece of the puzzle I was missing.

Because I spend a lot of time in bed, so I’ve had to turn it into a cozy little nest.

I’ve piled it up with pillows and Squishmallows.

I’ve got box sets of some of my favorite shows.

I have a few coloring books and crafty things to keep my hands busy.

There’s a fully charged Magic Wand Mini in my nightstand - always on standby whenever I need it.

I even put a cute mini fridge in my bedroom because fuck it - I’m gonna be here a lot.

It’s a decent little setup.

All it needed were a few decent games. And that’s where I was really struggling.

I’d download games on my phone, but they were never great. They helped me pass the time, but I never fully enjoyed them.

I could put on the VR headset, but nah. That’s for porn.

I’ve got an adorable Switch Lite, but I had a tough time finding a game that actually captivated me.

I’d borrow game cartridges from the kids, but most of them would just stress me out. I get frustrated very easily and the fast-paced games they love were basically designed to scramble my synapses.

I gave Roller Coaster Tycoon a shot because I remember loving it back in the day. But I could barely wrap my head around the controls. For whatever reason, I could rock that game sideways when I was 15 but now I can barely lay down a single track.

So, I’d just end up scrolling through TikTok instead. Even when it got dull and frustrating, I’d still be scrolling. Because there are only so many coloring pages I can do and jigsaw puzzles I can put together.

But I kept looking. Because something told me I just needed to find the right game and then I could really zone out and enjoy myself.

And you know what? I was right. Because I started playing this game called Wylde Flowers a couple of weeks ago, and it’s exactly what my exhausted brain needed.

Like, I’m legitimately hooked on it.

Even when I don’t have the energy to do anything else, I can turn on the Switch and tend to my garden, pet my farm animals, and propose to my girlfriend. (I made her fall in love with me by giving her sushi - I’ve got game, I’m telling you.)

It’s honestly perfect for me. A little homestead and a girl I can mack on - that’s the dream right there.

So I finally have a little taste of what those gamer girls experience.

And no wonder they always seem so cool and confident - it’s all the dopamine and serotonin they’re getting from their hobby.

Because that’s more or less what this game is giving me. It’s keeping me chill and making my nerves feel a little less frayed and frazzled.

And when I get bored of this game, I really hope I can find another one to hop onto. Because I love cozy games and they make me feel as zen as I can possibly be, but I’m fussy a hell when it comes to actually picking one.
