Being a human houseplant - now that's the dream! 🪴😎
Hi!
All year, I’ve been wishing I had a greenhouse. For all the usual reasons.
I could grow even more plants - preferably so many I lose track of some.
I’d make the growing season my bitch - I could ignore the frost dates and get peppers well into sweater season.
It would probably be a really fun place to fuck, too.
But I don’t want just any greenhouse.
Ideally, I want one that’s attached to the house. Like a big room I could step right into.
No putting on my shoes to traipse through the grass.
No cobblestone path I have to walk over to check on my plants.
I’d just turn the corner in my kitchen and then I’d feel the sunlight on my skin, graze all the leaves as I pass them by, and enjoy some grade-A coziness in my little windowed space.
But now, I’ve got even bigger dreams.
If I really had my way, I’d actually live inside the greenhouse.
Like, I’d have a house built right in the middle of one. Or I’d have a greenhouse built around the house. Either way is fine.
I didn’t even think that was an option, but turns out it is.

At first, it felt kind of silly. Like something a kid would dream up while doodling during class.
But the more I think about it, the more it seems like a smart idea.
And honestly, I’m kind of annoyed that I don’t live in one already.
Because I want a lot of things that aren’t always compatible. But in a greenhouse-house they might actually be.
Like, I want to live super sustainably. But I’m also too bougie to give up all my comforts to go live in a yurt - even if it’s a really nice yurt.
I also want to be as self-sufficient as I can be, but without busting my back to achieve it. My body’s already kinda fucked and there’s only so much it can take, so I need a good amount of convenience to keep me going.
And I want to be outside a lot more, but it doesn’t take much to send me running back indoors. Chilly temperatures, drizzly rain, obnoxious bugs - I don’t need any of that.
But if I could stick my house inside a giant greenhouse, I wouldn’t have to.
I’d get all the sun I want. I could enjoy the rain instead of just waiting for it to pass. And I could tend to my tomato plants without getting bugged up.
I’d just be chilling in my warm greenhouse, living like a happy houseplant.
Which sounds pretty damn nice if you ask me.
