When Mr. Austin asked me if I wanted to watch Magic Mike’s Last Dance, I didn’t have to think twice.
I remember how watching Magic Mike made me feel and I definitely wanted to feel that way again.
Even if it didn’t quite hit that high note, there would at least be Channing Tatum, hard bodies, and lots of grinding - all the ingredients you need for a really hot movie.
But if you ever saw me in the kitchen, you’d know that having all the ingredients for a recipe doesn’t mean it’ll turn out right.
And I’m not sure who this movie is for, but it isn’t me.
Sure, there were plenty of shirtless guys and a decent amount of physical contact. There just wasn’t any sexiness.
The actors were hot, but the movie wasn’t.
And that really disappointed me. Because if you’re going to sit your ass down in front of your laptop and write a Magic Mike movie, your first goal should be to make the audience feel a bit flustered. Maybe make a few ladies faint if that’s possible.
But I’m sad to say, no one’s going to get woozy watching this.
And I really should’ve seen that coming, because there are no sexy sequels.
Okay, that’s not entirely true. Fifty Shades Darker got my pulse racing so I know it’s possible to keep the heat up.
But it’s a pattern I’ve been noticing lately.
Movies and TV shows will lure you in with sex. Then season two drops or the sequel comes out and the sex either takes a backseat or gets really tame.
It even happens when sex is the whole damn point of the thing you’re watching.
365 Days isn’t a good movie, but it’s nice and horny. The sequel tried to keep the thrills going but they just weren’t there.
The first season of Sex/Life had a decent amount of spice. But the second one was as mild as Taco Bell’s hot sauce.
And now there’s a Magic Mike movie without all the sweat, excitement, and horniness that should come with that name.
I don’t get it. I have no idea why all these sexy movies and series keep getting less sexy with every sequel.
Yeah, I know I’ve complained about this before. But it’s really frustrating.
I’m down for all sorts of horny movies. I love the way a good steamy series can make me feel. I hate when sequels tease me by promising more sex and not delivering on it.
And when I put on a movie with a bunch of strippers in it, I expect it to at least turn me on a little. Otherwise, that’s just a lot of wasted potential.
