Goodbye bright purple hair 😭😭

Guys, I messed up.
I’ve been an Arctic Fox girl for a while. Their hair dye kept my hair different shades of purple, but always on the brighter side.
There was only one problem. It faded a bit too quickly.
I know that’s what you sign up for when you give your hair fantasy colors. It’s not long before the roots start showing and you need a touch up.
But I wanted something that would really hold and last as long as I wanted it to.
So, I decided to try something new.
After searching high and low, I managed to order a few tubes of Pravana Everlasting hair dye. The Violent Reign color looked great in the photos - a deep and bright purple that I could really get down with.
Then the mishap happened.
I followed the instructions, dyed my hair, and waited for it to set.
And it did come out purple, but barely.
Instead of a nice, flashy purple I got a color that’s dark and subtle. Kind of like an eggplant - practically black, with a hint of purple if you look at it under the light.
Or like in this picture, under multiple bright lights shining right on it.
And I can’t say I handled it well.
This was the second biggest hair crisis I’ve ever gone through.
Not as bad as the time I lost all my hair, thankfully. But I still felt like I lost the thing I loved about it.
Because the purple has been part of me for a long time.
Even when I wrote under a pen name and didn’t show my real face, I made sure to use a stock photo with purple hair.
It wouldn’t have felt like a representation of me without it.
And now that I don’t have it, I don’t fully feel like me either.
Turns out the Everlasting hair dye lives up to its name, too. It hasn’t faded half a shade yet. So looks like I’m stuck with it until I redo the whole thing.
It’s kind of starting to grow on me, though. I still feel a little shocked every time I look in the mirror and see it. And I don’t think I’ll keep it. But it looks alright for now.
Plus it’s technically still purple - if you squint hard enough.
I’ll try to make the best of it. Maybe I can put together a few outfits that look cute with the darker tone. Maybe I can take it from behind so Mr. Austin can feel like he’s fucking a stranger - who knows, could be fun.
And maybe this time, I finally learned my lesson. From now on, I’ll leave well enough alone.
Probably not. But it’s nice thought, isn’t it?
